PD catheters
A wide range of the peritoneal dialysis catheters has been designed, for example, Tenckhoff, Swan-Neck catheter, etc. All catheters have several similar features. Catheters are generally made of silicon, which is inert, non-traumatic flexible, has a resistant material. Less often the polyurethane catheters are used. These catheters have larger inner diameter and hence the dialysate flow, but they are fragile, as well as they are damaged or leaned faster. In order to facilitate its implantation orientation and radiographic diagnosis of dislocation, a barium impregnated stripe is implemented into the catheter wall along its length. Generally the catheter diameter is 5 mm and an inner (internal) lumen - 2.6 mm.
